Cracking sounds through ATV3

I'm playing an episode of a TV show through my Apple TV 3 at the moment and it's making cracking sounds at random intervals.

It hasn't happened this past week and the whole of last night (where I watched the first season of said TV show). Yet, the past two episodes have suffered weird cracking sounds. At first I thought it was the video but I've just played a moment of the show that suffered from the sound through my Mac and no cracking happened.

One isn't an AV expert and thus I haven't the slightest idea as to what could be wrong. Can anyone offer an opinion?
