How big is the Tenba Large Messenger? I have to pack a 15" MBP, T2i with battery grip and 24-70 f/2.8 w/hood attached, 70-200 f/2.8 II, a flashgun-sized mic, school supplies (lots of folders and paper and pens), and maybe some headphones thrown in there.

Think Tank Photo back pack is ideal for me, very high quality. Given that I have four bodies, 12 lenses, and four flashes, I do not pack it all in at once. Just take what I need for the job.

My normal travel bag is a small Domke bag. But I usually travel with a Leica rangefinder which is nice and compact, even with an extra lens. This bag wouldn't work for your needs though.

For a walk around bag with my DSLR I use a Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home.

For travel with my DSLR I use a Crumpler Sinking Barge. Still relatively compact, but can carry either a DSLR with one lens and travel stuff (clothes, etc.) or a body with a few lenses and other stuff (extra lenses, flashes, whatever). Has a nice little slot for a laptop (as do many of the Crumpler backpacks). I actually use this even when traveling without my DSLR--it's just a great backpack for flying even without a camera, whether I am only taking my iPad or also taking my rMBP.

For messenger type bags, Tenba mini-messenger.

I have the Tenba Messenger Mini which is fine for an ungripped body and standard lens (e.g. 24-70).

I can fit a gripped body in it with a 40mm f/2.8 STM 'pancake' lens.
