Nice! If you're have any second thoughts, the latest review of the 13" rMBP at theverge should put any remaining doubt to rest.

I got mine today. 13" 1.8ghz i5 8gb/128ssd. So far I love it. It feels big after using a 11" netbook for a year. Funny when ups came and rang the door bell. My sister was downstairs but didn't open the door. She was expecting her package but didn't know about mine that had to be signed. I went down and grabbed her box thinking it was mine but it was too light. Then saw the delivery slip for mine. Grabbed my car keys and chased the truck to the ups store in my city. Dude was surprised I showed up and wondered how I found him lol.

13" rMBP was a disappointment to a lot of people. I was going to hold off for it, but then there was a special price on a 13" MBA. I got that and when I found out about the rMBP 13" announcement, I did not regret my purchase.

I have the same

I have the same spec computer. It runs great.

My main concern is the next gen MBA if they will have Retinas.

But to be honest I'd rather see just 1080P MBA with Haswell

Retina's are great but severely overkill for MBA since they are more average consumer based computers. If you do video or photography the Retina is worth it since it has the extra horse power, well at least the 15"

I have it!

But does anyone else think that the shipping/delivery experience leaves much to be desired? I woke up this morning to discover that my MBA had gone from Korea, to Germany, to Stanstead, to London, and was already out for delivery! Not what I had asked for, but at least it was nearby. I phoned Apple and thought that I was making progress when they said that I could pick it up any time before 8PM at the 'local' depot. So, I made my way there before 5 and UPS (I think) had failed to pass on an important bit of information - the truck wouldn't get back to the depot before 7! Luckily, it arrived a bit early, but I was hanging around the wrong end of London for longer than I had planned.

After all that, I may wait until tomorrow until I open the thing - I can't handle the possibility of it not working after all that...

No way the MBA will get retina at next gen. It will just be a speed bump en CPU from Ivy to Haswell. Redesign and retina might come in 2014, not sooner..

Oh, I don't know - sod's law, murphy's law, whatever bad joojoo I have had recently that has allowed me to put huge amounts of effort into things only for me to still look like an idiot...

By the way, it does work - loading the ML update as I type...

Just bought a never used-new in box Mid 2011 13" MBA 128GB for $875 yesterday. Couldn't be happier.

I originally had a 2011 MBA but was forced to sell it to move to a PC for my schooling. However that has changed so I'm in the process of selling my HP and couldn't be happier to get back to a Mac.

Just grabbed a 13", i7, 8GB, 256GB and a Sena leather folio case.. Going to be the longest 9 days of my life waiting for it to arrive! Looking forward to the update from my 2006 core duo MacBook Pro 17", it's now getting so hot you could fry eggs AND bacon on it. Three replacement batteries later it's time to move on. So long Snow Leopard - hello seamless iPad and iPhone integration..

Anyone else have a Sena leather folio case? Can't seem to find many reviews.. 4-5 in the Apple store and a couple of YouTube videos.. Would be interested in knowing how they shape up after a few months of use. I was tempted to grab an electric blue Speck / generic eBay hard case but surely those clips must leave marks after a year or so?

Congrats! The Sena case definitely looks crisp! Although my Air is going with me a lot in a backpack stuffed with massive books, so I got a LaRobe instead. A very thick sleeve to protect it. I would never consider a Speck (one of those you leave on, right?). It really makes the Air bulky and traps heat like you wouldn't believe!

Cheers! Will check out the LaRobe, thought about a sleeve but now I've forked out $99 on the Sena, which is more-so a permanent case, I don't want to get into the habit of case swapping and multiple case buys - but it's bound to happen lol.

This was at the top of the list prior to the Sena - STM Grip: http://www.traveluniverse.com.au/Gri...ok-Air-STM.htm

This is the generic hardshell: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-ARRIV...49e1390&_uhb=1

This is the Speck hardshell: http://www.gadgetsboutique.com.au/se...13-cobalt.html

Yeah I wondered about heat dispersion issues with the Sena also, hence my query for thoughts from Sena owners. I hope keeping the Air in a folio permanently doesn't cause any issues for the long run.

Wow 99 bucks? Damn!.. Haven't got personal experience with the Sena but I got a friend who stopped using his Speck since it trapped heat and made his Macbook very warm! I wouldn't wrap a running laptop in a case, but hey, it might not be the case (pun!) with Sena. But I'm sure you can return the case if it sucks..

FWIW, I have ordered a dirt cheap case from eBay - it's one of the shell types that covers the top and bottom but not the fan exhaust on the back. It's in orange, of course!

I will try to report back...

I just bought a translucent Moshi iGlaze hardshell case for my Macbook air 13 inch. It doesn't lose the nice light the apple logo emits and has a great feel to it! My only gripe is that its a bit loose on the edge below the trackpad. But I would definitely still recommend this case for any Macbook air owner!

I bought a refurbished mid-2012 13.3"/i7/8GB/256GB when one popped up just before the most recent keynote (before that, they would last for 10-30 minutes at a time, this configuration kept selling out nearly as quickly as they came in) - I was hesitant because I was considering a 13 rMBP if the price was right, but given the price/low specs I was extremely relieved when it was introduced. Absolutely love the new computer, coming from a late-2007 MBP so this is a big step up.

Sold my 2010 11" 1.6/4/128 MBA yesterday for 750.00.. ordered a brand new 2012 11" 1.7/8/128 and am totally psyched. The new SSD's, with Ivy Bridge and 8 gigs of RAM will be a HUGE improvement. Was quite happy with my 2010, but it just needed a little bump, so that I gave it.

Well it was a long 9 days but it arrived, i7, 8gb, 256gb, 13".
I'm in Australia, purchased via eBay and saved $200 bucks.

BUT..

Look.. I'm not normally a 3rd world problems kinda guy, promise lol. It's an LG display and instantly I noticed colours are washed out. I called apple and they have arranged a genius appointment for Wednesday, they seemed to know what I was talking about in comparison to the Samsung display and told me just to 'calibrate it myself' at first. I explained I'm a designer / photographer and need accurate colour, having spent $2000 I didn't feel that was a fair solution. I am finally upgrading from a 17" core duo MacBook Pro that went through 3 batteries, welted my legs after 5 minutes of use, sucked colour off my couch (this was all reported over the years but wouldn't do anything except advise I 'use it on a table' 'don't use it on your lap').. It cost over $4000!

Anyway I explained this purchase needs to be right from the get-go after spending such a large amount of money. He told me I would have to send it back the USA as it's the stores responsibility, I said I wasn't in a position to pay for postage costs, so he's booked a genius appointment, it will be up to my local store as to an outcome, they may swap the display for a Samsung, they may not. Is this correct information?

I ordered my 13"/i5/8GB/128GB SSD yesterday and as per the store it might take up to 4 weeks !

I knew it but it is still painful to wait, especially as I am currently using my re-"born" 15" Sony Vaio with a Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66 GHz with just 1GB RAM and my ASUS Eee Netbook with an Intel Atom 1.66 GHz with 2GB RAM.

I had these two for 6 and 3 years respectively and I finally will move from Windows to Apple OS and something much faster.

What do you guys think, how much faster will my new MBA will be compared to the tractors mentioned on top?

And, as I am doing a lot of video and photography, will I be fine with iPhoto and iMovie for the beginning, or should I invest into Aperture and Final Cut Pro X right from the beginning?

Thanks!

I've been using my i7 / 8gb for the last 24 hours and it's blazingly fast. And it's true - Safari is snappier, crazy quick.

Have yet to load CS6 but can't imagine Photoshop / Lightroom or even Aperture will struggle, you should be fine.

I just received my 2012 MacBook Air 1.8 Ghz, 8GB RAM with 128GB SSD. Man is this thing light! I'm currently trying to figure out how things work as this is my first Mac. Though I took it to school I am really paranoid of scratching it. Any case recommendations? Preferably under the $30 range.
