Reserving products in the UK to collect in store

I have read that some people are doing this to buy iPhone 5s but I want an iPad, every time I check on my iPhone app it says unavailable to buy, is this a real time stock check or is the store just not doing collect in store reservations? Do some stores do it? And can it be done on the store website.

I think they are only restricting it to some of the countries or something like that... However, For me, a simple russian dolls gift is really really enough.

They're only doing it for the iPhone's in the UK, did it last year.
Asked a rep earlier if I could reserve a mini, they said no I have to call and check stock or order online.
