Everyone please stop referring to the uMBP a quote/unquote "classic" MBP. Thx.

Confusingly, someone had the bright idea to start changing the shortcut names of our beloved MacBooks around and I've been gone for a while only to return to this sillyness.

1. rMBP
2. uMBP
3. cMBP (???)

I have seen other people get confused and ask for clarification, and even I myself got confused. And if III get confused (rare), then you DEFINATELY know something is wrong.

First of all when you say "classic Mac Book Pro," the first thing that comes to mind is:

Thumb resize.

Second of all, the logical fallacy comes from thinking, "well the new rMBP is still unibody so we can't call the previous one that because they are both unibody."

Um hellllloo. Obviously since retina Mac Book Pro (rMBP) is designated for the new one, then why the heck would one need to differentiate anymore??????

If the new invention is retina, and we call it rMBP, then keep the old one based on ITS' main invention: The Unibody.

You can still call it a uMBP because what are you gonna confuse it with? The old old ones? The new ones? No.

If anything, don't call it classic because that's not even the original classic. The classic designation REALLY is incorrect because it misleads you to a whole 'nother era --especially since we have been using uMBP for almost a decade since unibody was invented.

Now that retina is invented we go from there, but the change is both baseless and illogical.

Please stop using cMBP and go back to uMBP when referring to the previous gen. The patterns are based on what era the major design invention was debuted, so let's stay consistent with that.

I dunno what you guys were thinking when whoever started this started this.

I sure didnt approve of it.

Umm ^^ wow someone more passionate than me!

Woah wow ahhhhh wahhh...... Well then, this is a great pod cast about the use of the world "invention" when it comes to Apple have a listen it is really entertaining and enlightening also:

"Has Apple Really Ever Invented Anything?"

I enjoy this sort of passionate posting!

PS: In terms of cMBP it refers to current MacBook Pro, I am sure is the word about town no??? Current, rather than classic, correct me if I'm wrong? When I think classic I think the MACINTOSH Classic, anyone else?? Those were the second computers I owned when I was in grade 5, before that I owned a Apple IIc and then in high school I owned the Macintosh LC 575. Fast forward in 2007 I owned the 17" Macbook Pro, she is still running strong but after I returned the maxed out 15" rMacBook - I got a brand new, French Canadian 17" MacBook Pro late 2011 and with the money saved for the over priced rMacBook, I upgraded the heck out of the 17 incher and saved saved over 2400 dollars which I will put towards a maxed out 27 inch iMac for my niece going into med school.

I really, really hope that the op is meant to be amusing, but based on past posts, my guess is that it's serious.

Since there's not really an official name for it, no one changed anything, because there was nothing to change. People will call it what they want. It's really not all that confusing. Expecting people to conform to your idea of the correct term is a little...impractical, to say the least.

But, sorry...we'll try to keep better track of what you approve and what you don't. Shame on us.

It took me a long time to figure out what the hell cMBP went. well know MBA and rMBP but I got it now. It does kind of get annoying but its just another thing to deal with and move on

A single post on this forum won't change anything about how people call their computers.

Heck, people still call an iPod Touch an iTouch, even though it's not written anywhere on the device. The name was probably invented by someone dyslexic, misinformed or both. If these people only turned their devices over, they'd notice the laser etched iPod logo, but they don't.

haha WTH man?! Did the OP just bust a gasket or is this supposed to be funny? I no longer care what people want to call their machines any more than I care when people call the iPad mini the iPM. /shrug
