Does your wifi turn off during sleep?

You can set the Wifi behaviour in Android, I don't know how it works in iOS

It turns off , you can't change it if you're not jail broken.

why would anyone want it to stay on when asleep? I guess if you are downloading something really large? But with a iphone it will keep downloading when asleep then cut off.

^ you know everyone doesn't have unlimited data. You might want all your notifications without having data on, or you might be in a terrible location for a data signal.

Automatically syncing your emails is another reason you would want to keep Wi-Fi on during sleep? I don't think it's possible to automatically check for email and cut off? Unless it automatically turns Wi-Fi on and off every 15 minutes and checks for mail.

The results by anandtech are similar to what others are getting at xda developers. I will put more faith in anandtech, sorry. They are the best technical reviewer on the web.

It doesn't do that, but that would be an excellent option... a "conserve battery but check on occasion" option, also extendable to cellular.

So I ordered within the first 5 minutes, 11:36 EST to be exact and have gotten no shipping confirmation from Google. I decided to call them up and I'm on backorder apparently, again with no communication from them.

Awesome.

I may just get the Note ii and say piss on it.

Nonsense.

Put iPhone in airplane mode. Turn on wifi. Put it to sleep. Have someone send you an iMessage or anything that would trigger a notification. Watch the notification appear. Realize wifi is not truly "off."

I still have not heard anything from google either...no shipping, no back order email...nothing and I ordered 2 minutes before you. The earlier you ordered the more jacked your order is =/

Notice I also said sleep so ok . Still, wait an hour or three and repeat test. You will still get notified. Wifi is not truly off.

That's a silly work around don't you think? What about phone calls and other stuff for people who actually uses their phone as a phone?

Work around?? What are you talking about?

You claimed wifi turned off and I showed you that that is not so. That's it.

What you are referring to us Persistent Wifi that was introduced in IOS 4. If you don't have a data connection then Wifi stays active if the phone is sleep.

Thus you mentioned a silly work around.
