macmall is having a early black friday thing where they have the 256 samsung 830 ssd for 167.00 with free shipping. it was in stock as of this post.

That's not a bad price at all but I think this coming week and weekend you will see more competitive prices for the 256. I've been doing a ton of research on these myself and have seen the 150-175 range for the 830 and the intel ones everywhere. I think I saw OCZ for 130 the other day. I want to stick with samsung but will wait til I see 120-130 range, which I'm sure we will.

Dang it! I need one but, I just blew the rest of my extra money on a 2T TC.... crap. I REALLY need this though... Argh.

Sequential write speeds are greater for the 256GB model. 520 MB/s vs 240 MB/s for the 250GB one. The 256GB model is the Pro Series whereas the 250GB is not.

ok thanks so much! Almost got the 250gb one but glad I didnt, now have to find a good price.

Anytime. I found out more information with regards to the two. The 840 uses TLC NAND and the Pro uses MLC NAND which is faster and more durable. The 840 Pro is considered the true successor to the 830 series where the non-Pro 840 is just the budget SSD solution.
