AT&T unlimited data for iPad

Did AT&T ever activate the hotspot feature of the iPad 3 for people with unlimited data?

No and they never will. Unlimited data was clearly only for the device itself and not for tethering. AT&T has always considered tethering as a separate plan requirement.

Nope not with an unlimited data plan
They'll only activate hotspot if you pay for the $50 5 GB plan or link the iPad with mobile share

You could put the iPad SIM into an AT&T Elevate 4G Hotspot and use FaceTime.

Only the Elevate? Has AT&T forced a change to the unlimited iPad data plan?

I guess any hotspot will do. Connecting to the hotspot makes the iPad on wifi. I don't know about changes to the plan.
