I've found they are a bit small as well. I think Apple TV just displays SRT subtitles the same way no matter what. If you use SRT subtitles they look totally different if you play the file on the mac through VLC or some other programme.
Maybe try using a bitmap subtitle file? I also found this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1067678 |

This is unfortunately iOS's fault and nothing more. No matter how many times you try to change the settings in Subler, it won't change anything.
You should try to watch a movie with Subtitles on the iPhone 4, fun times. ![]() Best thing to do is file some feedback to Apple and hope they fix it in the next update. |

Sorry to go off topic a bit, but how do you actually load an SRT file so that when you are playing a movie through Apple TV that you have an option to turn subtitles on or off??
Thanks.

You either have to imbed when you transcode to an mp4 (using HB) or add it after transcoding using Subler (import>file)

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you. Under the subtitle tab in HB, there is a selection for adding and external srt. Have done it many times.

p.s ClosedCaption (cc) <> srt (deferent) = not same
Apple use cc ! I tried many ways to change font size using scaled size (subler) can anybody point me to sample mp4 movie include cc subs to check configs ? I can't find over internet an Apple Native MP4 with cc subs BR

I've extracted this from the second video at https://itunes.apple.com/us/itunes-u...nt/id480479762 . Works just great on the AppleTV 3. ---------- Only by burning them in right to the video stream (which also means a complete reencode & image quality loss) with an app, with increased size. IMHO it doesn't worth the hassle if you have a sufficiently new (2010+ model) iDevice with a HDMI or VGA adapter - just use it with a subtitle charset-setting capable player. (It's Playing, nPlayer, yaPlayer, CinemaXHD etc. - see my dedicated articles in the iPad forum here at MR) |
