Upgrading my 2012 macmini to SSD.

My question to existing mac mini owners is, should I go 256gb or 512gb. Are most of you finding that 256gb is plenty? I dont download movies or music.

Thanks

You can always use a external usb for music and movies. You can move yout whole iTunes library off to the other disk. Then 256 will be sufficient.

I've got 256 on my iMac and without an external disk it gets full. Especiallly if you want to bootcamp or test run another OS as a virtual machine.

I havent received my mini yet... I purchased a 16gb ram kit and a samsung 830 512gb ssd but before i open and install it, i want to see if maybe a 256gb at less than half the price would be more practical.

512 - you are going to open it once so why not put max you could afford ? I got 500GB in mine along with 1TB factory drive.

You could get by with 128gb SSD and configure it as a Fusion Drive with the built-in hard drive.

I've found that as a casual user with a modest mp3 collection, a handful of movies, and a number of games, 256gb is plenty. I also have a partition for windows 7 gaming.

Truthfully, 128gb was too little but 256gb is working out amazingly.
