I'm looking at getting a desktop soon, and have been waiting for a new iMac for a while (although not as long as some). Anyway, I've got a 2009 13 MBP at the moment, and with its 4GB RAM, HDD, and 2.53 C2D I'm finding it almost impossible to manage my photos in iPhoto. What I'm looking for is a desktop that will seamlessly edit photos in Elements, but I don't need it to do much more. I'll probably have 3 accounts on it, and several windows open in each.
So my current conundrum is that I was planning on the base 27" iMac, with fusion drive. So that would be 2.9 quad i5, 8GB RAM, and 1TB fusion. But as that is a lot of money, I've been considering the Mac Mini. Either the 2.3 or 2.6 quad i7, 8GB Ram (maybe upgraded myself), and 1TB fusion. My questions is that for what will be about £400 - £500 more for the iMac, would I notice that much of a difference in performance or longevity? I'm planning to try the iMac first so no rush, just curious. I also don't like the 21" iMac, my mum has one and it feels a tad too small to me.
