macOS How big is xcode?

I have a base model MacBook Air. So I am careful when it comes to using my space. I have a need for xcode, but not too serious a need, at least not yet. So, How bit is xcode?
 
I would say.....

that depends on version/associated libraries/SDKs. If my memory works can range from 1 GB to 6 GB

Soooo, is there a way to make this thing smaller? I use it only for light C++ coding.
