Funny that the Apple site will "technically" only sell the unlocked AT&T version, although the unlocked Verizon version is also available at full price. Apple conveniently doesn't mention that.

Good news.
So the model sold as unlocked in the US by Apple is the AT&T version and will work with AT&T's LTE right?

Bad news for me! Was hoping to purchase the CDMA model. Bit more internationally LTE friendly.

But good news for T-mobile users.

The reservation and store pick up is still between 10.00 PM and 4.00 AM.

That said tmonews reported T-mobile will announce iPhone 5 next week. So there may be subsidy for those going on contract or monthly payment for phone through T-mobile.

I plan to buy one as soon as my local store has this in stock.

My wait is finally over. Now I don't have to get it unlocked from ebay or buy on contract, terminate the contract then pay the etf. No crazy stuffs like that. I can buy unlocked i5 straight from the store now. Yippee!!!!!!! :)

I just checked and the unlocked iPhone can be selected to pick up in store even during the day. It's shown in stock in all Apple stores in NYC too. Comes out to $706.60 after taxes in NYC for the 16gb version.

I was told by one of the specialist at apple that fully unlocked ones that are being sold right now are different from the device only versions. Apparently after two years, it will be locked back again to the carrier because their database still has their imei....

Can anybody else confirm this as well?
