what happens when you use 1.5V ram?

You mean RAM modules which specify they need 1.5V? I'm using them right now with no problems at all and I know a lot of people in these forums are too.

Even original Apple sticks have 1.5V written on themselves. (Mine at least)

Which machine? If you mean the 2.6 GHz i7 Mac mini (Late 2012), the data sheet for the processor says, that the memory controller supports
- DDR3 RAM (1.5 V)
- DDR3L RAM (1.35 V)
and
- DDR3-RS RAM (1.5 V, Reduced Standby)
- DDR3L-RS RAM (1.35 V, Reduced Standby)

so it will be fine to use RAM that are designed for PC? U know some ram says Mac compatible, some don't.

Yes it is the latest Mac Mini base model 2.5 i5

mac compatible meant a lot more on non intel macs from 2005 or so. it is pretty much a label designed so that you get charged a bit more. sandy bridge and ivy bridge cpus from 2011 and 2012 macs are very forgiving with ram for the most part.

FYI, many of the 2012 minis (if not all) come with 1.5V ram as my mid 2012 mini came with 1.5V ram.

Instead of starting another thread I thought I would ask in this one: Is there any advantage in using 1.35V ram instead of 1.5V? I'm looking at either

1600 MHz RAM needs more power. 1.5 V RAM needs more power. So if you want a cool and efficient 2012 Mac mini, use DDR3L (1.35 V) RAM, and if possible 1333 MHz RAM.

Sandy Bridge Mac minis (2011) do not support DDR3L RAM, AFAIK.

So is there any performance difference though between the 1.35 or 1.5V ram?
