AirPort Extreme

My current AirPort Extreme was purchased in 2007 and has been in use since. Back in 2007 I was just using it with a Mac Book and an iPod.

Since than we have added iPad, more iPods, another Mac Book and have just ordered a new 27" iMac.

In the next few weeks I will also be buying a wireless printer.

I was thinking of purchasing a new AirPort Extreme but was wondering what if any benefits there would be from a new one to a 2007 one?

Depending on which model you have, you would probably gain these features by upgrading to the 5th Gen.

  • Dual band wireless N (run 2.4 and 5Ghz at same time)
  • Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • Better wireless range
