Apple Now Selling Unlocked GSM iPhones in the U.S.

Looks like it has impacted at least one of the consignment for unlocked iPhones since mine was supposed to be delivered on Fri 12/7 and my status show the same

Wow, a smartphone that will be old hat in around 6 months for almost 900.00 You could buy two widescreen HDTV's for that amount. No wonder so many people are buying android smartphones and gaining the majority of marketshare. Why doesn't Apple see this?

WTF, Apple (and UPS)?

For anybody that cares (nobody), it's now made it across the pond, but UPS is no longer displaying an expected delivery date.

It simply missed its originally scheduled flight or the originally scheduled flight was cancelled. It made the next flight (though that wasn't captured by the UPS tracking system) and now it is in Alaska. You'll get an updated expected delivery date once it gets to the Continental US.

I knowwww. If Apple got a bit more competitive in pricing on their whole product range, you wouldn't even hear the term PC anymore. Apple need to face it. They have great products but terrible prices. Pricing is always the ammunition for these Apple haters out there and rightfully so.

They would also gain way more money too. 5% marketshare in Computers Apple has or something around that number. Imagine if they got to 80-90% with competitive pricing? Their profits would be so high there would have to be a creation of a new number because you can't say zillion twice right?

As more and more people move away from contracts, they are also now forced to move away from Apple because Apple really isn’t giving them any other option. Android has now shown that it can go toe to toe with iOS, and people in this economy are just looking for what they are getting for their money. The new HTC M7 coming out in a few months will crush the iPhone just like the galaxy s II has begun to do. Once a person buys into a eco system it is much harder to get them to switch, especially if they’ve made a large app investment for that eco system. Pre-paid is one of the biggest growing trends in smartphones and sadly Apple essentially has nothing competitive to offer. This is why Apple has lost market share so quickly. Smartphone users are fed up by draconian long-term contracts, but Apple is telling them, “we’re not a viable option”. Even pre-paid carriers like cricket and Leap are admitting this. “The iPhone’s impact is not going to be very much, because it’s a very high-priced product,” says James Ratcliffe. “The environment remains a challenge.” The only way Apple is going to stay viable in the smartphone market is if they offer a more reasonably priced alternative to android. Sadly, I feel they’ll realize this too late.

Better late than never. I just hope they realise it for more than just their iPhones
