i hope mine will be shipped this week :( sucks to wait. I ordered 10 mins after it was up and it was BTO:

-3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
-8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
-768GB Flash Storage
-NVIDIAGeFrc GTX 680MX 2G GDDR5
-MAGIC TRACKPAD-Z

But, since I'm in Norway I get 2-3 weeks and delivery between 7-8th of january
Norway is a great country to live in, but not when it comes to Apple delivery.

It's about friggin time!

Lol...ok...so I didn't order mine yet. But this has been the slowest launch for an iMac I've seen in awhile. Especially during the holiday season.

Gonna wait until after the new year, and after some in depth reviews of the new 27" before I order mine.

Don't care about the "no retina"....I doubt that's gonna even be feasible on a screen that large for many years...but I am curious about any heat issues in the new thinner design. So I'm waiting.

Looks sweet tho! ;-)

Once iFixIT does a teardown on the 27-inch iMac Core i7 I will give my dealer a call to check on the status on my iMac.

I hope I get mine before the end of the year but I expect it to arrive by the 3rd week of January.

seems random... I ordered my BTO right about 5 minutes after appearing on the site (and got my confirmation email at 3:05 AM ET). Still "Processing Items" for me...

but my hold disappeared from my card during the night

No change on mine yet. Checked my card, and it hasn't been charged yet. I ordered a BTO with i7,Fusion and 680MX ordered within the first few minutes of availability. I'll edit this post when it does. :)

Had my confirmation three minutes earlier than you. I haven't checked my actual credit card, as I split my payment between two cards, but my check card hasn't been hit yet.

and somehow people that ordered later in the morning, even BTO, have had their cards charged

Waiting on teardown before ordering

Waiting on the first teardown so I can see how easy it is to upgrade myself from owc. SSD etc as apples prices are a bit over the top.

$725 au for 32gb ..... Apple
$195 us for 32gb ..... OWC

Maybe we can install our own SSD 6g ?

As soon as I see a teardown ill make my decision and then order.

So items being prepared for shipment is news these days?
It is good to hear. I am happy for the people who bought 27 iMacs. But news?

I have 2 separate BTo's that both say preparing to ship but estimates haven't changed. 12/21-28. Credit cards were charged on 12/7.

When we have waited this long for "Macs", yes it is news. Good news.

First rule in business: Under Promise Over Deliver. That pleasing sensation that you get just a little more than you were expecting in a transaction. Apple's specialty for 30 years.

It is interesting to see people who have ordered way after you have their status change while mine hasn't. Oh well. I just hope it gets here before I leave for a week

Yippee!

Can't wait to get mine - have already been preparing to get started. Great to see "preparing" status. Called my credit card company to assure they don't think of it as a theft transaction... every time I order something large from Apple they hold things up since it is out of character for me to spend that much :)

Have had 4 iMacs, every time, I do a "migrate" - and this time - not going that route. I've built up so much 'junk' over the years, this time I want to start fresh.

Also bought the G-Raid 4tb thunderbolt box. Have a drobo, but it is acting sick, so I want something to use the speed of this new box. The drobo will become an archive only box.
