Ordered my first Mac product. Ive had an iPhone since 3G.

Got the 15 rMBP 2.6/16/512.

It replaces a 6 year old Core 2 Duo (the first generation), 4GB ram and Geforce 260.

Gonna make that box headless and use it as my video server for streaming to the PS3 as I do now and use the monitors for when I am in the home office.

Hello all! New to this forum, but not new to Macs. I just replaced my old (2007) Macbook Pro. I thought of getting a brand-new model with the Black Friday discount, but after some research I decided that going with a refurb model might be a better deal by hundreds of dollars. Couldn't justify the $400 markup for Retina, but I wanted an antiglare screen, so a 15.4" from the Apple Store it had to be.

Luckily I was able to snag a current (June 2012) model; 2011 models didn't seem to offer any advantage in price. I signed up with the Barclays card for 18-month financing, and placed the order on Thanksgiving evening, right after finishing my piece of pie. (I learned that these refurb models go quickly, so I pounced as soon as I could.) Shipping was lightning-fast to northern NJ; it arrived that Saturday, but I wasn't home, so I picked it up the next Tuesday.

Overall I am happy. I just hope there was nothing seriously wrong with the computer before it was refurbished. (I had a scary freeze that forced me to reboot at one point, but it seems OK now.) Paid through the nose for Apple Care, but what else is new?

These are the specs I ordered:

15.4 inches
2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to [whatever]
Hi-res anti-glare display, 1680 x 1050
4GB 1600MHz memory
500GB 5400-rpm hard drive
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory

One nice thing is that I ordered a model with 4GB of RAM, and the computer actually came with 8GB. I hope I get to keep it. :)

I'm beside myself, too. I ordered a 15" 2.6 Ghz, 16Mb, 512 Flash Retina MBP last night, and it's due to arrive tomorrow.

It's my first ever Mac, so I'm hoping I'll be able to work out how to use it.

took my mom to the apple store so she could compare the iPad 2, ipad mini, and ipod touch (really thought she'd choose the mini so had already ordered her one that will arrive tomorrow....)

wellllllll we also showed her the macbook airs... and as we were walking back to the iPads she stopped to look at the macbook pros....

she decided that was what she wanted! i told her about the refurb store... so we came home and ordered her arefurbished MacBook Pro 2.9GHz Dual-core i7... just the base model of that with the 8GB memory and 750GB harddrive....

hopefully it will ship today (says delivery 14-18 dec)

i'm excited for her!!!!!! hope she loves it!!!!!

MacBook Pro 15 with 512GB SSD, 500GB HDD, 16GB RAM = Decent machine...

Bought the entry level 15 MacBook Pro. As soon as I got home after work, disassembled the DVD player and installed a 512GB SSD and 16GB RAM.

Wow - what a difference, I had been working on a MacBook 13 inches for the last 4 years, using it for everything, play, movies, music, work...

Even with 4 Windows VMs running in Parallels, the thing barely uses its processor cores… Next I want to try it for gaming to see if it can handle it.

Very happy - all this for a little more than $2200.

Just ordered a rMBP 15 with 256gb, 16gb... Most I've ever spent on a computer...

It was between the rmbp and a dell xps15. I'm giving up the ability to change out components, but minus that, it's not really that much more than the xps by time you add in the upgrades, 3yr support. Then, there's the upgrade that doesn't exist...the screen...

I'm an artist/software developer, so I'm really hoping I don't regret the purchase:)

Coming from a White MacBook 07,and gagging for a rMBP since they came out, finally took the plunge...
Ordered a 2.6/16/512 Tuesday, and it arrived the following day!!!
So far completely amazed with the screen, the speed, the build quality... Upon checking, it does have a LG screen, but so far so good.anyway, got apple care as well,so if the screen starts playing up I'm sure won't have any issues getting a replacement!!!
Now looking at another 5 years at least until I replace it!!!

Just ordered the base Macbook Pro Retina (15 inch). $2,199 is a lot!

Coming over from a Thinkpad. Hopefully the MBP's keyboard is up to snuff.

Just bought Mid-2012 Base 15" Macbook Pro

This is my first mac ever, and I'm loving it! Spent about $1800 and it is the most expensive I've ever spent on a computer. I'm gonna upgrade the RAM to 8GB soon. I'm still using my windows desktop though.

Took some shots of my MBP here to share with you guys:

I've had a 15" retina pro for 3 days now.. I'm so in love with this machine!

Got it with 2.6 GHz i7, 16g ram, 256 ssd. This thing is blazing fast! Have never owned a computer this good and fast. And the retina screen is beautiful, I don't think I can ever go back to a non-retina screen now.

new macbook pro

Just got my new macbook pro today :) Been using an old ibook G4 (still worked but so outdated and couldn't upgrade much since it was not an intel). This one sure is nice. Do they still make the macbook? Or did they replace it with the pro??

They discontinued the MacBook in 2010. They didn't replace it with anything, as the MBP and MBA lines already existed then.
