Weird I though there was a minimum price these phones could be sold for which is regulated by apple. Most the time companies will offer things like a gift card to get around this but it looks like thats not the case here.

Right, they usually have to use tricks to get around the MAP, but not this time for some reason. Maybe Apple doesn't enforce a MAP for the iPhone. Either way a MAP doesn't control the retailer's price, only what they can advertise. If you "ask" they can sell the product for under MAP.

FWIW, the page for this offer has been moved. This is the current one:

If you have to remind them what their policy is than it's time to walk.

Just mention that you would like a price match to BB.com. That's all I said and the person knew I what I was talking about. And for $50 I wouldn't mind linking him to the site either :p

I also just bought a 32 GB iPhone 5 from the Apple store. Does anyone know if the Apple store will do price match? If I could get 50 bucks back I'd be pretty happy :)

Anyone know if I can use this deal on an upgrade for an existing line? I've been waiting to upgrade, and I'd take the deal with a new 2 year agreement if I could do it.

Best Buy gets a lot of crap from people, but I went in there this evening after seeing the email from Best Buy about $50 off having bought an iPhone 5 last week, and they refunded me the $50, no questions asked.

Great deal. Going through RewardsZone now. Is AT&T's $36 "Activation Fee," the normal/correct amount? Tx

Yes that is the standard fee regardless of where you buy.

----------

My local Apple store just told me that the Best Buy phones are "refurbs".

Are they?

You were misinformed. These are brand new phones.

Yes. They walk you thru the process just like Apple's website does.

Dude, there is no downside to the deal. Who cares if the Best Buy employees are incompetent? If you like the genie at Apple, you can still go there, and still have $50 in your pocket. $50 is $50. Did you buy earlier at a much higher price and now feel regrets??

The only downside is shopping at Best Buy.

I bought mine directly from Apple and I have no regrets. In fact, I prefer buying directly from Apple because I know my iPhone came off the factory floor and shipped out of the Chinese factory after it was made by little Chinese hands. :)

Horse Crap!!!!!

BB says I cannot upgrade now, but AT&T says I can right now

Eligible for early upgrade? They can do it no problem is att says you are eligible. You probably have a past due balance. I work in bby mobile. Do an upgrade check on bestbuy.com. if it says you're good there then I bet its a billing issue.

Not sure what apple store employees are thinking or being told, but this is not the first ive heard of this claim. No, best biy mobile sells brand new phones unless you so choose to buy an opened item iphone for an even more discounted price. Only refurbs you will ever typically get is thru Geek Squad Protection, in which case they are refurbs bought by best buy from apple to replace your broken phone. Hope this clears things up.

Best Buy charges 99¢ more on almost ALL Apple products. It's one reason I don't buy them there.

Of course, $50 is very tempting.

And everything at the Apple store is $1-50 more than BB. I saw a 32GB USB flash drive that BB was selling for $20, for $59 at Apple! I would never EVER buy anything none apple at an apple store. And not to that in general the average Apple store employee isn't brighter than the average BB employee but I have run into some fairly dim lit bulbs at both places.

Just checked in at reward zone, and the price is back up to $199.

I went through the check out process, and was kinda shocked when the taxes came in at $67. I know taxes are high here in Cali, but anyone have any idea what the high tax is for?

Cali residents pay the sales tax on the original price of the phone, not the subsidized or discounted price. 'Perk' of living in Cali ... jk

Cause 99 cents is going to break the bank...

I used to work at a Best Buy and vowed to never shop there unless I actually have to. $50 off is tempting but I'd rather get everything I buy with an  on it directly from Apple.

Also, as an Apple fan, I like how Apple has an Apple station within Best Buy stores for exposure. However, it is saddening that these stations aren't manned by anyone who knows Apple products. Instead, they're manned by the same incompetent Best Buy employees who know little to nothing about the products and told simply to sell more accessories. Perhaps one or two Apple geniuses at these stations?

I see an Apple Vendor at the Apple table of my Best Buy all the time. He is pretty knowledgable.

Yeah I hate that BS. It's why I only upgrade in Illinois where my family lives. F-you California. I hear LA county just passed that you get ticketed if you park at a broken meter now too, as opposed to getting a freebie meter. Not sure when they will enforce it though.

bestbuy.com does list the phones for $50 cheaper, but the $100 in rewards certificates is only good if you purchase the phone through rewardszone.com, which lists the phones at the same price that they've always been.

So you can have one deal or the other, but not both.

Interesting.

I wonder which is the better deal? How hard is it to redeem the rewards?

Not necessarily. Contact customer service to get the extra points. I couldn't use my reward zone on bestbuy.com but I later logged into my reward zone account and had them add the order and the bonus points.

Can I do this at the store or just online?

I've read every post in this thread and the one at slickdeals, and I still can't figure out if I can get the $149.99 by going to the store, or only online. Can someone clear this up for me?

Thats funny because I work at Best Buy and all of the Apple Station in my city are manner by Apple employees that report directly to Apple. Best Buy also has a Apple Specialist position that work at these stations. I was the Best Buy Apple rep for over a year and there was constantly training that I had to complete to stay certified. Just because you talk to one new employee that doesn't not know it all does not make all Best Buy employees incompetent.

Considering the fact that iPhones rarely go on sell. This is a great deal and just in time for the holidays. $50 off and 5,000 rewardszone point which will convert into a $50 giftcard in a few weeks is amazing. I just brought an open box iphone outright for $594.00 plus taxes and service plan. I love the new iphone!

I just bought an iPhone 5 last week from AT&T store. I called 611 and told them about the $150 BestBuy was offering and they knocked $150 off my bill to not return and buy with BB
