I'm going to be getting my 27 inch iMac in Feb or March. This will be my first Mac, and I'm really looking forward to getting one. After Christmas I'm going to be doing a bit of extension work on my desk to accommodate the iMac
and all the other bits and bobs that I'll need on my desk.
Once I do get it, I'll:
1: Check for any physical damage.
2: Install the 16 GB of ram I'll have purchased from Crucial.
3: Switch it on, go through the setup.
4: Check the screen for any issues
5: Then I'll go into the System Preferences and adjust the various settings to my likeness.
6: I'll then have a feel around
and get used to Mac. I've done a fair amount of research, asked a few questions on various forums since summer, so it shouldn't be too much of a shock.
7: Give a good 6 weeks or so to find my feet with the Mac and I'll then purchase and install Parallels Desktop 8 and more than likely Windows 7 64 bit. I've spent an hour or so on both Windows 7 and Windows 8, and I just find Windows 8 not very intuitive and don't really like it, whereas Windows 7 for me is a lot better, and at the end of the day Windows isn't going to be used a great deal, so I'm not bothered if I have an older version of Windows.
