What is your rMBP boot time?
I recently got a rMBP 2.7/16/512. It takes 13.6 seconds to start from pressing the power button to usable desktop (~11 seconds from the startup chime).
Is this normal/average? I ask because I have read that some people boot in 8-9 seconds. iTunes is all that is in my login items, and VirtualBox is in my StartupItems. In general, what are your processor and ram specs and what is your boot time? Anyone know any tweaks to speed up boot time, or am I making a big deal out of nothing? |

Oh man your boot time is 13 seconds you need to take it back right now and demand a replacement. In all honesty though 13 seconds is fine and it doesn't really matter. You really shouldn't care that you rMBP takes 13 seconds to boot vs the 9 seconds It MIGHT take some others. If it is that big of a problem just put it to sleep.

I rarely, if ever, shut it down... But, iirc, boot up time was similar to yours.
Either way, like Trav9614 said, it's irrelevant unless it's boot up time is anything like it's shut-down time post 2.0 EFI Update that screwed up big time!!

Good to know, but I am curious what other rMBP owners are experiencing for boot time.

So you guys can compare the Retinas to something else...
Early 2011 base cMPB-13 8GB/MoXT: 12 sec to login screen / 3 sec from (8 non-OS items in startup) Early 2011 base cMBP-15 16GB/MoXT: 14 sec to login screen / 5 sec from (16 non-OS items in startup)

11-12 seconds with FV. I don't have a lot of stuff loaded up at startup though.
