Ejecting drive during encryption?
I am encrypting a 4tb drive using mountain lion but its taking ages. I am using the terminal command "diskutil cs list" to check the conversion progress. It's been 24 hours and its not done.
Seeing as Apple doesn't provide you a progress bar to check the status of the encryption I assume that means "it just works" once you enable it you can use the drive normally and it will just encrypt itself over time and you don't need to follow any special procedures when ejecting it? |

Wow. I know that it's been said that the encryption process is slow, but it shouldn't be that slow. 2tb hard drive for me took 3 hours. Maybe it's having an error..?

Was it an internal drive? The drive that I am encrypting is a RAID 0 G-Tech drive over FW800 so maybe that's why it's taking a while. The progress is moving forward continuously so I do not think it has errors.
