Ipod touch 5g notification error

So recently on my new iPod touch 5g, I have notice that notifications only appear maybe 1/5 times... This was not always the case, I have not changed anyssetting since it was working properly. I have to go into the application to even reveal that I have any notifications. I don't even get the red circle with number of notifications any more? Any ideas?

Specific applications that are having issues are Facebook, instagram, snap chat, and twitter
