Sound from iMac to TV through DENON reciever

Hey im using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI to transmit the video from my iMac to the reciever. However, since the iMac is from before 2010, the hdmi output does not support audio. Therefore, i need to use a cable ( http://www.zzounds.com/item--MONIP400M ) to transmit the audio to the reciever ( http://usa.denon.com/us/product/page...2313ci(denonna) ).

...So to my question...does the sound lose quality using the cable? Is it any different than sound transmitted through an hdmi cable?
