I've just ran geekbench and my score was 10769. I'm new to Macs and I've never used geekbench before so not sure I'm doing it right but from all the scores I've seen on the net, it seems low to me. Can anyone help me out with an explanation? I ran the 64 bit test.

Is that the i5 or i7?

If it's the i5 then that might be about right, but I'm not an expert and waiting on my i7 to test it my self.

I understand when you test you should have no other programs running, just the Finder.

ETA - sorry just checked your score link. I think that might be right for the i5.

This is the result I found from the other forum. It is the 2012 iMac i5 2.9Ghz

For a point of reference here's my 27" 2011 iMac (3.4GHz Core i7 Sandy Bridge, 12GB RAM, 2GB AMD 6970 GPU, 2TB HDD)

Mine is...oddly slow for 680MX, 768 SSD, and 32gb of memory.

@themomopan
You've run the Benchmark in 32bit Mode, what usually results in a lower score.

Thanks for posting this. After reading this thread I decided to run geekbench just for fun and noticed that my retina 2.7 was super slow. 2000 below average. I'm currently re-installing OSx since resetting ram and SMc didn't do anything...if its still 2000 below average that sloth is going back to apple first thing tomorrow morning.

On a side note my iMac 27 3.4 is on its way. Will be here Thursday :)

GeekBench scores don't tell the full story..... I had a Mac Mini score in the 12000+ to only be beaten by my 2011 iMac in real world tasks......

Geekbench tests things which might not really be used in the actual applications you are using.

Nice setup. What kind of tasks do you use this machine for?

Writing a Book and Movie script/budget stuff. X-Plane 10.20 Flight Sim - I am earthbound due to viral infection of the jam tart - :(

Also AMPAS screening material.

BTW my Geekbench score was with Media Central/Safari/PPrune/YouTube running. With basic quiet set up

the figure is 14342
