Patriot Act, NDAA, Gov't raids of everything from raw milk sellers to guitar manufacturers by jack booted thugs carrying an abundance of firepower. There is Ruby Ridge also which involved the murder of a US citizens wife and child by a gov't sniper.

The PATRIOT Act and NDAA have both illustrated that both parties have no issues with undermining certain civil liberties and rights. Hurricane Katrina is probably the most recent event like this.

With that said, the idea of overthrowing the government is quite silly and almost guaranteed to fail. If someone dislikes policy, rather than shooting people there needs to be an emphasis on civility and diplomacy to change the government from the inside out through truly democratic means. One of the great things in this country is the right to disagree. I see no need to plan to overthrow the government, but plenty of need for change. The shooting of Gabrielle Giffords was one of the events in which someone decided they needed to use force rather diplomatic means...which is terribly un-American and un-democratic. This type of thought process is not the way government should be ran or changed to better serve the people...and nothing is ever accomplished by violence of the sort.

Yes it's complete tyranny here. I've lost count of the number of times I've been abducted by government officers off the street in dark vans. Just a part of my daily routine, you know- get up, go to work, leave work, get abducted, released a few days later and repeat. If only somebody thought to give overpowered weapons to the unorganised, undisciplined, unintelligent public, then I'd be much safer.

Just to add - ideas of the UK having 'banned' guns are very wide of the mark - there's actually just under 2 million guns here in private ownership... It's just kept very low profile by those who own them.
