Same problem here on my Early 2011 Macbook Pro i5 with 8gb of ram. Any solutions yet? Hopefully 10.8.2 fixed the problem.

My mid 2011 base mac mini froze for the first time yesterday, and then again today. Both times I was able to move my mouse but nothing else was responding. On both occasions I had to power down by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
I did an extended hardware test which showed no problems

Forget to mention, I was browsing the web both times using the latest version of Chrome..

I've had this same freeze on my mac pro but using safari, i'm on 10.8.2. Are you still getting the same problem?

Hi guys,

I will like to know if someone have the same problem that me, my Macbook pro crashes almost 5 times per day since I installed Mountain Lion... any ideas what could be the problem?

I have a macbook pro of 2.26Ghz intel core 2 duo, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB and a hard drive of 160 with 17GB free of memory...

The mountain lion i have is OS X 10.8 (12A269)

Thanks,

Kev

Please run a hardware check on your HDD and RAM and let us know the results

Yeah what I'm planning on doing is purchasing an external hard drive then backing up everything on my Mac. Then, I'm going to restore my Mac and erase everything then reinstall OS X Mountain Lion and add only the important documents and pictures back onto my Mac. I'm looking to buy a 500gb Western Digital Passport Edge but it's so expensive!

It only did it twice like I mentioned. Chrome has been updated since then. So far it's been rock solid. Lets hope it stays that way :)

One other thing I found interesting. When I was using the HDMI out into my 2007 Samsung 720p HDTV, I was occasionally getting "Your Computer Was Restarted Because Of A Problem" error message on reboot. For the past 2 weeks I've been using a Thunderbolt to VGA cable instead of HDMI with absolutely no errors. I have no idea why, but I'm not complaining!

ML UI Crash - Source Apps

iMac 27" 11,3 12GB 1333 (no SSD upgrade per other thread complaints - and hope this is the most appropriate thread..)

Since installing ML (10.8.2) on 4 Nov I've had 14 crashes, and tested Apps individually (including Safari, iTunes, Stickies, PS CS5, Acrobat Pro X)
Problem Apps:
-Display Sleep (Energy Saver Prefs) [in combination with Chrome & PD7 does not wake from sleep /crashes during use]
-Chrome (current & reinstalled twice, ext: flashblock & adblock plus)
-Parallels (upgraded to PD7 4 Nov)

NOTE: I do not experience the same issues on the 2009 MBP 2.26 C2D 6GB (Chrome only, have not tested PD7 on it)

EG from PD7 crash log (btw - every single crash refers to the GPU)

Apple support claims to be unaware of UI crash issues related to the GPU

Worst decision I ever made "upgrading" from Snow Leopard. Lion on my other iMac 27" (2011) is also woeful (1GB of airport updates?) and ML is an even worse OS. So much for "IT JUST WORKS" hey Apple. I wish I could just revert back to SL...

**14 Nov Update - no crashes in 48hrs. No Chrome or PD7 running :( Office MAC is no permanent solution and Outlook deforms my OST but at least it's sort of workable**

**15 Nov Update - crash caused by Chrome update (Chrome not even running). From the logs:

Same problem

I have had this exact problem since 2010. Apple support never has an answer. Some days it won't even start, it simple freezes up (won't even let me login). some day works fine... i have given up. As soon as some cash comes in... i will simply retire my idea of working with a Mac... No support, nobody knows anything, and they want money in order to fix it (the problem started as soon as the guarantee expired wtf)

Mountain Lion is working great on both mine & my daughters 2010 MBP. Fresh install on mine, TM restore on hers.

Try a fresh install, easiest & fastest if you put the ML DVD on an 8GB USB bootable flash.

Also some SSDs (mainly OCZ make sure you've got the latest firmware) and third party DRAM can cause grief.

i have experienced the same issues as other have listed above. i know that this freezing is associated with the playing of streaming or flash video.

i can work all day and it won't freeze but the minute i try and watch netflix or hbo go or various other flash videos it freezes without fail and i have to hard reboot. im beyond frustrated with this.

i would go back to lion but im afraid i would lose too much data as my current backup is full...grrrr apple must fix this

ive been an apple user since 1999 and this is the most angry i have ever been with them...

From your message, I guess you have a MBP with a SSD hard drive. Is it one provided by Apple or a 3rd party? If so, which model are you using and with which firmware version. 3rd party SSDs seem to be at the origin of many crash issues, particularly with old firmware versions..
