iPhone 4S screen shattered

Merry Xmas everyone. My wife broke her iPhone 4S this morning. Does anyone know how much it costs to get repaired by apple (if it can be repaired) or would we have to pay full price for a new one?

You can buy a replacement screen and tools as a kit for about 30-40 dollars from sites like eBay. Google tells me a replacement screen would run you about 100 bucks (work included) at Apple, but about half of that at any given repair shop...

Thanks for checking that hafr. I probably should have mentioned that I live in the uk. Could I still get these repair kits delivered to me or is eBay my best friend. Is the iPhone 4S screen easy to replace. I haven't ever opened up an iPhone so I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to these sorts of things lol

Try looking up the Apple store in the middle of London. If not, you may be able to get these kits no problem.

Yep will do. Might as well see what apple has to say before messing around with it. Typical that she breaks it at the busiest time of year lol

Go to www.apple.com/uk/retail

Book an appointment with the Genius Bar. If your looking at getting the issue resolved. As far as I know apple will not replace the front screen. They will exchange your handset with a reconditioned handset but that will be at a cost. About £146 possibly. But you need to check with them.

Plus plenty of local people replace them for you for around $80 Ive seen...Radio shack does it also.

Those are always aftermarket and of inferior quality.

i replaced my brothers 4S screen last night. from icracked.com its $74 for a quality screen.

Wow seems pricey going the apple route

. The only worry I have about going the aftermarket route is getting a screen which is crappy quality and stops working after a few weeks. Are there any recommended kits which are the same as/ as good as the original screen (Bearing in mind I live in the uk) if not its between going apple or buying out the rest ofthe contract (4 months remaining)

Wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with Apple to see how much it will be.

Just booked the appointment. Earliest is 31 December. Going to see what apple says and take it from there. Fingers crossed they will feel sorry for her and just give her a new one for free lol although tbh there's more chance of the world ending tomorrow.
