Internet sharing?

I ve seen that under settings there is an Internet sharing section where you can set up a username and password. I have a factory unlocked iphone 5, so is that to create a wifi hotspot? If so, how?

In order to activate internet sharing also known as tethering, you must have your carrier allow you to tether your phones Data plan. Regardless of it being unlocked, wherever you are receiving service from must offer tethering in their terms.
