RX100 newbie usage question

I'm new to the RX100 and haven't had a chance to figure this out yet.

When I'm taking pictures, I'm doing something that will sometimes cause the camera to save a second copy of a picture, more zoomed in.

Any idea of what I'm doing, or if this is an option that can be disabled?
