Canon eos utility application not finding my camera!

Hello,
I recently bought a new canon eos 6d camera with the built in wifi function, but when i try to connect it with my computer it doesn't find the camera.
We're on the same network and I just don't know what to do.
I tried it with my smartphone and that worked fine, but i can't seem to make it work with my mac.
If you know something I missed, please help!

I just took a look at the specifications on the Canon site plus a couple of independent reviews and all of them talk about connecting to an iOS or Android device only (for WiFi). On the Canon site it indicates that the USB is to be used for PC connections. Which would leave me to believe that you need to hardwire it.

I could be wrong but that is what it indicates to me.
