Apple Promotes 'Do Not Disturb' in TV Ad On Same Day as New Year's Day Bug Discovered

Is this iPhone 5 specific?

This is a great feature but the location of it in settings is completely illogical.

I should be able to switch if on by tapping the switch next to "Do Not Disturb", where it currently is now.

BUT

I should be able to enter the settings by tapping the white cell containing the "Do Not Disturb" text.

I shouldn't have to go to
Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb when there is a button sitting at Settings > Do Not Disturb

Hmm maybe it's a timezone thing. Mine switched off right on schedule... It was still on at 6am, I had an alarm set for 8.30am and it had switched off by then - scheduled to switch off at 8am.
Here in the UK (holiday or not... Still had to work!)

Actually got me to find it and use it, didn't know it was there and where till the ad so it served it's function of creating awareness.

Have to laugh at the face palms, but I doubt this ad is aimed at the geeks on here that are giving all the raspberries. This is for the rest of us. This is an awesome feature since I use my iPhone for business, I can set schedule outside of business hours when only certain people can bug me.

don't know about you, but until iOS6 there was no way of being only alerted after hours by only those on my favorites list. In the past all I could do was switch off everything and that meant I missed urgent calls by people I did want to be able to reach me.

It all depends on one's preferences. Given how little it's been talked about since its inception, it's rather trivial. I work within a huge group of iOS enthusiasts & do not disturb has rarely been acknowledged.

Did anyone notice that apple used "10:41 PM" instead of their usual "9:41 AM" (for the first time?)?

Of course the narrator will set his iPhone before going to bed in the late evening - hence the late time of day - but I haven't seen another time displayed in apple's promotional images/videos for a long time.

On another note if you know you are dreaming and therefore are glad you set your phone to dnd then that means that you are lucid dreaming. And in a lucid dream you can do anything. I don't mean pretty well anything, I mean anything. And if the best this chap can do is a game of tennis then I'm afraid that is very very sad.

Ping pong vs. one of the greatest doubles pairs in history (and each among the best singles players) is kind of exciting if you are a tennis fan. While I wouldn't rate this ad as the most clever in Apple history I thought it was decent. Most people don't know about these kinds of features.

Maybe the ad was released with Apple's full awareness of the bug. Apple gets a bunch of people using the feature they weren't aware of, then in a few days they release an update touting improvements to DND including "a bug fix for some users."
