Hey guys can you help me find a nice tv stand?
My current one is a Walmart throw away and it's bowing in the middle.

I currently have a 47" plasma, blue ray, cable box, Apple TV, modem and router.

I've honestly never bought a stand before they've all been gifted to me.

My main concerns are:
Looking tidy (hides router/ modem/ cables)
Sturdy
Decent finish
Modern
DVD storage
300 or less

Just curious what you guys have, think looks good, etc

I dont know your budget, but if you want nice wood then
Find an unfinished furniture place. Around me, we have Neils. Anyways these places make very nice wooden furniture, you can finish yourself or have them do it.

Otherwise find a big furniture chain and try there. Maybe a big electronics outlet.

The cheap answer I go for is also hitting up GoodWill/Salvation Army, they get plenty of furniture units and there is usually a home entertainment unit or 2 there.

I need to do something about a tv stand sometimes, by 300 lb tube Sony (KVSH510) is sitting on an Ikea IVAR cabinet unit, which is holding up strong, and probably considered an insane risk by all of you.

I have my TV mounted on the wall, but I needed a place for my CD's, DVD's Blue-ray player, and 50' plasma etc so i bought prepac tv stand. I was able to assemble by myself, but it would have been faster and easier with a helper. It probably took me 3 or 4 hours spread over a couple of nights after work. The only negative I can think of is that something this heavy should be on casters instead of legs, so that it would be easy to pull out and get to the back of your components.

If you are into modern looking stuff, IKEA has some pretty decent TV stands for a nice price. Takes about 2 hours or so to put together and you have a stand that will last you for a decade or so as long as you don't jump on it. :D

Thanks guys unfortunately I don't think our apartments will let us do wall mounts.

I need to go to ikea anyway to get a couch so might as well get both.
Good to hear its good stuff!

It's worth asking. My son-in-law thought the same until I stopped by the apt front office and asked. They said as long as I could remove the mount and fill in the holes when he moved and paint then it was fine.

I was in the need of a rather cheap/decent looking stand a few years ago for a guest bedroom and I just stopped by BB and picked up this one . It was simple to put together, BB was much much closer than Ikea ( also I dislike driving in Dallas so it was worth spending more not to have to go there), it served its purpose until I later decided to wall mount that TV and sold the stand to a friend.

Wow mmomega, our TV stands are quite similar. I LOVE mine, and get many compliments on how simple yet nice it is (especially for a bachelor pad).

This is mine

I got this for 85$.

It's actually really nice looking. It was a pain to put together though.

It holds 200 DVDs, modem/ router, Apple TV, cable box, and blu ray.

Thanks!
I really like it.
I found it at big lots new in box and the construction quality is decent.
It was easy to put together and it hides all my stuff :)
