Pardon me for being a bit of a newbie in the forum, I only occasionally get to use a co-workers iMac but I am planning on getting my own soon! Seriously considering a mini... although a little cautious now as I just realized that it doesn't have an optical drive. I guess thats ok, I just hadn't yet taken that into consideration.

We have FC Studio 2 edition. I think its 6 dvd disks to install it. How do you handle installing FC on this thing? Get a usb optical drive?

Then once its on there, how well does Final Cut run on the mini?

Apple sells an external SuperDrive http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD564ZM/A/apple-usb-superdrive

Or you can look around for a third party drive, other companies sell a similar product. You can also set up DVD drive sharing, so you can "borrow" the DVD drive for another SuperDrive equipped Mac if it is connected to the same network. See this apple support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287 for additional information.

I don't have experience with final cut, can't comment on how well it runs

Thank you for this drive info. I had never come across sharing optical drives like that across a network, I can really see the use of this if I get a mini, connecting this to our 'mainframe' imac.

Any Final Cut editors out there running a Mini?
Figuring on getting the fastest one possible, maxing out the ram, running a souped up SSD or fusion drive and dual monitor. Anyone running a setup like this please let me know.
