Use command instead of control?
I am a long time mac user so I am extremely adjusted to the standard keyboard layout. I just installed windows 8 and I want to use the "command" key instead of the "control" key when performing keyboard shortcuts. I know one can install 3rd party software to do this but I want to know if you can do this in windows without extra software?
Cheers

Command <-> Control Scancode Map Settings for Windows 2000 and Higher
This will tell the keyboard driver to swap the Command and Control keys. Just double click the .reg file, Merge it and then restart Windows.
If you want to restore the key's to their original functions then download the second file, Merge the .reg and restart Windows. Edit: It's important to note that by applying this you loose the ability to trigger Ctrl+Alt+Del. Instead you will have to either use Fn+Cmd+Alt+Del or Cmd+Shift+Esc. ---
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] "Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,05,00,00,00,5b,e0,1d,00,5c,e0,1d,e0,\ 1d,00,5b,e0,1d,e0,5c,e0,00,00,00,00 Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] "Scancode Map"=- Last edited by Quad5Ny; Jan 8, 2013 at 11:45 PM. |
