I just started.
Currently have a 2011 iMac i5, 2009 iMac i5, 2011 MacMini i5, a Windows box i3 crunching away. I'm interested to see after a week what sort of numbers I can produce. The Windows box only running at 25% load since it serves another purpose.

As long as you have a passkey, after 10 units you will start pumping out the points! Folding actually takes the lowest priority of tasks, so you could leave it at 100% and it won't disrupt your other processes. |

Well after running FAH on the 2011 Mac Mini for 30 mins... I had to shut it down, CPU temps were holding at 195 with fan speed @ 3800rpm.
Unlike all of my other aluminum Macs, it wasn't even warm to the touch despite the high temps.

That sucks. I guess the Minis were never ment to be workhorses anyway.

I did, I read the FAQ and it was one of the first things I did.
That and had to find out how to get v7 because v6 didn't work right for me at all.

I may be interested in joining up.
I currently run Rosetta/Seti on my C2D iMac, i5 iMac, and i5 Mini. I'd be running it on my PPC machines if they still supported it. How does F@H compare to the stuff on the BOINC client? |

thought i'd hit this thread up again. there hasn't been a lot of activity in this forum lately, but our team has been doing pretty well. below is what i'm folding with currently (once it starts to get warmer, this will change)
2010 12 core mac pro (2.4 ghz) - about 35-40k ppd i7 920 with 2 x GTX260's i7 930 with 2 x GTX260's and 1 x GTX465 2009 macbook pro - smp + gpu and i think that's it. let us know what you've got going now if anything has changed - maybe something new from the holiday season? or just starting up some hardware since it's getting colder now? |

Late 2012 mini i7. I have 2 settings 80% and run the fan at 3500 or 100% at 4500. Either setting the processor stays around 90. Puts out some good numbers although with also encoding and other tasks with me having to pause can't get a good average.

Was there a GPU client for OSX yet? I haven't been around folding for a while but I try to put a WU out every once in a while.

I've currently got a pair of GTX460 as well as a GTX560Ti folding using wine on ubuntu, but a native client might make me consider getting a few kepler cards as well - especially now that GPUs have been re-benchmarked and are once again competing with CPU folding. |

I just installed, joined 3446 (according to the FAH client, looks like it's correct) and started folding. As soon as I ran the client, it went nuts on team 1 before I even pressed a button, haha. I had to quickly figure out the configuration and entered my name (wonderspark) and team 3446.
It's only been on a few minutes now, and it says Total Estimated PPD 30001. Seems awesome, but I have no idea. Moments before I installed this, Team 3446 was ranked 66, and I just checked again to see we're now 64. I like to think that I did that two-spot bump! ![]() Actually, I don't see my name in the list on the team stats, so I doubt I had anything to do with it.

thanks for joining the team! but make sure you get a passkey, cuz without it you won't get all those points! (a passkey is needed to get the bonus points, which is included in that ppd estimate)

thanks for joining!
and I think you have to complete 10 work units before you get bonus points (above the base points, what people refer to as the QRB or quick return bonus) it's fun and our team definitely needs all your help!

Is it safe to say that I won't see my name on any lists in the team stats until after ten work units?
I completed one work unit this morning a few hours ago, and have 16+% completed on a second work unit. ![]() Base credits are 1700-2000 or so, and estimated credits are around 14000. Is that reflective of the difference between bonus (QRB) and non-bonus?

you should still get points without the bonus, and after 10 units with your passkey, you'll get the bonus. it takes awhile for the points to show up sometimes. give it a few hours and your name will be there |
