I'm trying to redo my whole itunes library in flac (lossless).
I am ripping some cds, and converting a lot of flac files I have into apple lossless. I noticed that the kbps for cd rips is a lot higher (around 1100) where conversions from flac to apple lossless are around 750 kbps.

Is this normal? Does the kbps just variate between songs/cds?
Does it make a difference?
Thanks!

ALAC is more efficient than FLAC. Obviously, being lossless, the sound quality is identical but yes, it's normal for the files to be smaller.

Some songs will use over 1000 kb/s even in ALAC.
