I am using the Mac's PDF creation facility from Word for Mac, and my PDF result is a page with a big white space in the areas where the page is larger than standard. I need the page to be a custom size. Is there some other software I can use, or am I just setting the PDF creation up in the wrong way?

Creating and managing Custom Pages is a standard OS X feature, not a special function. You may create a Custom Page Size in the Word File/Page Setup... dialog box.

I second this, and have created custom page sizes on many occasions.
