That's why most americans are fanatic about this guy. He condenses the american liberal thinking both in terms of business and art.
Personally, I'm more friendly to the way european companies and people deal with earnings and altruism. An european company is capable of paying a little more for a worker because it's the right thing to do even though the worker can actually accept more pressure over his wage. Ok, europeans are not perfect when dealing with immigrants, but even with the immigrants subject they raise a lot of debates about how to deal with it keeping some degree of social welfare.
In USA, work and art are strongly tied to the money subject. That's why art in US is so "perfect", "well-executed" and therefore asseptic. It's all about money, reaching the majority of the public, it's all about maximizing earnings.
My testimony sounds depreciatory about the way americans lead their lifes, but, as I previously said, I like societies capable of dealing with gains and donations in a more equilibrated way. Also, Brazil - where I live - is far from dealing better with social inequalities.
