Cloning rMBP drive to a memory Stick ?
Hi Guys,
I have a rMBP + mac mini and have cloned the drives to other drives for safekeeping in case I run into problems..... Anyway this seem to be a waste of spare drives as well as the possibility of drives going bad ..... Since 32gb/64gb flash drives are now readily available, I was wondering if it is possible to clone to the flash drives instead .... and would they work the same way as the bootable spare drives ....? cheers css_jay99 |

cheers,
I'll give it a try to see how slow. I take it that all I will need to do is :- 1) connect 2 flash drives i.e. a bootable + target flash drives ... 2) Boot the mac to the bootable drive 3) use Disk utility to clone the mac HDD to the target flash drive cheers cooa99 |

Clone it and you are most likely good to go, most likely since there are a fair amount of people here on MR which clone their device, boot up from it but get the grey screen with the STOP sign. Might be a 10.8.2 Bug?? |

Strangely enough I did not bother to check if the HDD clones I created some time a go were bootable ! cooa99 |

I am interested in this too.... a 64GB USB3 drive would help performance wise.
