iPhone freezing

This started happening about two or three days ago and it has happened twice already.

I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 6.0.1) and when I tried unlocking my phone a few hours ago the black screen with the apple logo appeared for a few seconds before returning to my original lock screen. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Is your iPhone 4 jailbroken?
