Apple to Launch 128 GB iPad on February 5 for $799/$929
![]() ![]() Quote:
Rumors and hints of a 128 GB iPad developed quickly with a reference to higher-capacity iOS devices appearing in what turned out to be the shipping version of iOS 6.1 when it was released as a beta to developers over the weekend. Just a day later, new high-end iPad configurations were spotted in the stock database of a major U.S. retailer, suggesting that a launch was indeed imminent. From 16GB to 32GB = 16GB --> 100$
From 32GB to 64GB = 32GB --> 100$ From 64GB to 128GB = 64GB --> 100$ Now i am thinking 100$ for 16GB more is a little bit overpriced

Is this a reaction to Surface being released?

Ten bucks says prices drop across the board for storage capacities in the next generation. They'll drop 16 gb and make 32 gb the entry level at $500.

No. That's more akin to a bowel movement...

As expected.
I want to have a phone which has a 128GB storage capacity.

This doesn't look good for an early release of the 5th Generation

The pricing is consistent and to be expected, but I hope that improving memory costs will allow a price reduction across all the iPad models at the next update.

Disappointing. I had hopes the next iPad would come with 32/64/128gb starting at $499. You can buy a 16gb microsd card for $10 and 32gb for $25.

I'm glad there are options. But these prices are getting ridiculous for simply more storage.

Why more expensive?
Moore's Law and also price per gigabyte has dropped by 50% in the last 12 months should mean the 128GB should be cheaper than the 64GB retina model when it launched. 16GB iPad is pretty useless even for a none power user. 8GB iPod is similar too. |

I'm guessing/hoping the iPad5 will start at 32GB and the prices will shift down by $100

Wow! That's innovation!
Sarcasm aside, be much more polite if apple shifted the memory up with 32gb being the base... but highly doubt that.

Wow, this is surprising to me. Nice to see this option available, even if it is a bit pricey.

err 16 > 32 $100 32 > 64 $100 64 > 128 $100 total $300 16 > 128 $300 What's not fair ? Your maths ? :-) j/k

It might be but it certainly is something that is long overdue for a product that plays movies.

I was expecting at least a slight drop in price...
Oh well, it's not like this harms anyone else. I agree that it's probable that they'll drop the 16 GB and move them all down one price-tier... I just checked the store and I don't see the 128 GB option anywhere, but it looks like the website is going to get a little crowded when it's added...
