Apple to Launch 128 GB iPad on February 5 for $799/$929

Well the 64 Gb model never killed off the 32 Gb model. So I doubt that the 128 Gb would kill the 64Gb.
Some people will only want 64 Gb. For them that is plenty. Power users (personal or business) will probably go for the 128 Gb because it will suit their needs.
Companies tend to do strange moves when they don't know what to do. This 128GB iPad, released with such a hurry, clearly looks a silly reaction to the stock roller coaster.

Fasten your seatbelt. Yes, iOS won't replace laptops in the real world, but however, the iOS product line is likely to replace the Mac product line on Apple, mainly because people tend to use computers less for work and more for entertainment. It's clear that we, people who use computers for work, won't be using Apple stuff 10 years from now.

You don't seriously imagine that Apple has developed this new SKU and organized the whole supply-chain for the roll-out in couple of weeks, do you?

This is about time. 16gb iPad is still a great deal. 32gb less so, and so fourth.
$800 for 128 GB is horrible -- it's almost double the price of the ipad itsself, only to get more (albeit much more) flash storage.
At this point the 128GB should take the price point of the 64GB. The 64GB should replace the 32GB, and the 32GB should replace the 16GB. They should drop the 16GB completely.
Honestly this makes me a little excited and not directly because of this upgrade itself. It means there is a potential for the iPhone/iPod Touch to FINALLY see some capacity updates from this 4 year streak of charging the same price for the 64GB capacity.
Flash prices have crashed since 2009, to be honest the line should see a price drop with 128GB taking the place of the 64GB pricing and 32GB being the entry point.
Its funny, part of the reason Apple has developed such a market was because they were ahead in capacities against the competition. At some point that changed and now the competitors offer more space through microSD slots. Really wish Apple would go back to competing on a capacity level..even if they don't add external ports.

Apple needs to make the price breaks more in line with cost of components.

32GB - $549 (+50)
64GB - $624 (+75)

I think they will with the iPad 5 - it'll seem like a "price drop" and it'll also be something else to differentiate it from the mini (especially if the mini gets retina).

i definitely will be selling my iPad 3 if this happens
especially since the iPad 5 is going to be as light as the iPad Mini
Price gouging
Apple need to realise that not everyone who purchases its products does so out of fashion trends or fads.
Given the iPod Touch was launched many years ago with 64G, it would seem sensible that 128G would cost the same as 64G given the collapse in flash memory prices.
I'm sick of Apple price gouging and getting the market wrong, not to mention its production issues with new slim 'fat' iMac.
Given the limitations of iOS and the iPad, I'll be getting a ASUS tablet next once they upgrade the Infinity with hopefully a 128G storage option.
I love Apple products but presently they are overpriced toys - time to concentrate on the computer side of the business and not fads.😱

Yeah the $50 difference won't happen...just because many more people would upgrade to the larger capacity versions, which would cause problems with keeping stock of all the models.
But I think dropping the 16 for 32 will happen at some point. They dropped the 8GB iPod Touch and now start at 16GB. As the iPad gets more features and more uses they will want the baseline to be higher so that apps can become more complex.
Funny, local paper "announced" an "iPad 5 with 128GB" for almost £800 (UK) ...

Apple should ditch the 16GB model, which is useless, and start with the 32GB for the price of the 16GB and so on up to 64GB. It's been over 3 years now, memory keeps dropping in price. the 128GB model should take the place of the 64GB model.

Limitations of iOS? i dont know what you're talking about, Objective-C is so powerful you can pretty much accomplish anything you want, besides flash crap, which isnt imperative in business.
the iOS is THE operating system for businesses wanting to use mobile devices.
you know how crappy eclipse is compared to Xcode? and of course all the different sized devices that use different resolutions
when u compare the iOS and Android OS, its like comparing a rolls royce to a camry.
yes the individual device can be better than the iPad, but the OS isn't, managing of devices for businesses isn't, and just look factor of having an iPad, wether you're in retail, manufacturing, etc etc. it looks better for your customer and it impresses them giving them a good impression.
lol toys? these devices have far more worth in the business "computer side" than the entertainment side.
these are hardly toys, these devices are going to effect every working industry and the iOS is Windows to businesses as Android is to Everything else "Mac OS, Unix, Linux" etc etc etc
