A Nevada Republican arrested for voter fraud in the 2012 election, after claiming she was trying to test the system's integrity, pled guilty and accepted a plea deal Thursday, forcing her to pay almost $2,500 and promise to stay out of trouble.

Roxanne Rubin, 56, a casino worker on the Las Vegas Strip, was arrested on Nov. 3, 2012 after trying to vote twice, once at her poling site in Henderson and then at a second site in Las Vegas. The poll workers at the second site said that she had already voted, but Rubin said that she hadn't and insisted on casting a ballot, which the poll workers refused to allow her to do.

Rubin's deal requires her to pay $2,481 to the state in restitution, complete 100 hours of community service, stay out of trouble and complete an impulse control course.

Whats more the PRO photo ID Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller is a Democrat.


Needless to say voter fraud does happen, how much is issue.

One of the best studies on the subject was conducted by Justin Levitt of the New York University Law School. Its conclusion is simple: allegations of widespread voter fraud are greatly exaggerated.

“Many of the claims of voter fraud amount to a great deal of smoke without much fire…Most allegations of fraud turn out to be baseless—and that of the few allegations remaining, most reveal election irregularities and other forms of election misconduct, rather than fraud by individual voters. The type of individual voter fraud supposedly targeted by recent legislative efforts—especially efforts to require certain forms of voter ID—simply does not exist.”

But let's not forget about when JFK got elected...there were tons of DEAD voters that somehow managed to vote for him. But I would bet many of the people on this forum aren't old enough to remember that.

Let's not pretend stuff like this happens only when connected to a republican. There are plenty of isolated cases on both sides.

So we have to got back 50 years for a relevant example? Studies have shown that voter fraud exists in tiny percentages, TINY. Nowhere near enough to affect the outcome. Furthermore, to affect a presidential election, you'd have to get thousands, maybe tens of thousands willing to commit a felony. Do you really think that happens?

Actually 9 democrats in New York were indited for voter fraud in 2009. There are plenty of current examples on both sides of the fence, just didn't feel this thread was worth the effort to type them.

I never said I thought it happens enough to effect an election. My point was that it is not, as another poster commented, strictly a republican thing.
