iPad mailbox count in landscape mode

When I view mail on my iPad in landscape mode it doesn't show the mailbox count numbers:

The heading is blank instead of "1 of 25" in portrait mode.

If I switch to portrait, its there, but nothing on Landscape. Any ideas?

I've tried it in All Mailboxes, as well as individual mailboxes to confirm. Same problem. I have never had this feature, but everyone else does. It didn't go away with an update. Tried a restore as well.

iPad 2 running 6.1

Help please!

There's noting to help with. That's totally normal.
