Do you really think so? just compare the price/specs of older version of the iPod with the newer models over time, or MBPs, iMacs, etc, how better specs replace older models while maintaining the same price.

There won't be a March upgrade. That's obvious. They got that upgrade out with the 128gb model. The next upgrade comes summer/fall, with the mini restyle. Course, I don't think the mini 2 will have retina, maybe an A6 processor and 1gb ram. Maybe. ---------- Quote:

---------- Indeed, that's a good idea. But with most Apple products, and probably all of them in the future, you don't and won't have that option. |

11" Macbook Air. The S°Pro has the same 17W dual-core 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U as the entry level $999 MBA. The S°Pro is limited to 4GB of RAM (8GB for the 11" MBA), and 128GB of SSD (512GB for the 11" MBA). But the S°Pro offers multitouch and a 1080p display. Oh, the $899 entry price point (64GB) is without keyboard cover ($119/129). |

Yeah well, they used to call the 13" Macbook just a Macbook. It seems anything is "Pro" these days at Apple even when the specs don't seem to agree.

![]() Seriously, I don't care about details that can easily be altered by the engineering design team at a slight cost increase. The point is Microsoft has beaten Apple to the punch on a no-brainer evolution of the iOS/OSX concept. What would I rather have? A $1400 notebook/pad combo or a $1100 notebook plus a $600-900 pad? It's an unnecessary duplication of technology at this point. I'm sure Apple would prefer to sell you two units instead of one, though. Quote:
![]() As for the space thing, I'm sorry but that's not a Microsoft-centric issue. If you were to load OSX proper onto a 64GB notebook, you'd find a significant amount of that 64GB of space taken up by the operating system also. And until the recent announcement, you couldn't hope to get a 128GB iPad either. My last drive that was 64GB or smaller on a computer was in maybe 1999 when I had a 40GB drive to start? Oh wait. That was an 80GB drive.... ![]() None of this is relevant to the idea of simply adding touch-screen capabilities to a Macbook (whatever model) or even an iMac. As long as you still retain the options for a trackpad and/or mouse, it could always be handy for something (anything from cockpit controls on a flight simulator to playing Bejeweled 3 at a pace that is only achievable on an iOS device not to mention Launchpad would make a lot more sense). But instead of people recognizing that what Microsoft has delivered here is a good idea, they'd rather defend the current status of Apple's products...until the day Apple does release what will basically be the same thing more or less and then the fanboys will praise it to no end in the usual hypocritical fashion.

Well it's a nice device that can do much more than iOS. I have it and the keyboard is fantastisk and the trackpad also. Eventhough it's hard to get used to, that it doesnt have alle the functions my MBA has :-)

I have used the Surface RT. It's horrible. Windows 8 is worse than Vista was when it was released. Too many sharp edges on the tablet. Plus I've seen a few reports of that flexible keyboard falling apart at the seems. Cute idea poorly implemented. I am not impressed.

Does anyone know if you'll just be able to order it on Feb. 5 or if you can pick one up on Feb 5?

The iPad is getting dangerously close to the Macbook Air 11" in terms of price.
I personally find difficult to justify a $900 price tag in a tablet.

This is surprising to me... I didn't really think there was space for more device storage, only more of an onslaught toward cloud storage.
