New Flash Drive Won't Work With Macbook Pro
I just purchased a 64 GB PNY Metal Attache flash drive that is Mac compatible but upon opening it and plugging it in to my 2011 MacBook Pro it does not show up in finder or Disk Utility. I tried plugging it into my father's brand new 2013 iMac and it showed up just fine. I then formatted it, verified and repaired it and still my macbook won't see it. The only thing I can think is maybe this older 2011 model is not compatible with a high capacity 64 GB flash drive. Any ideas fellow Mac friends?

Is it a USB 3.0 drive? I'm not sure if 3.0 drives are backwards-compatible with 2.0 USB slots on a computer.

This guy right here except 64 gb. Which curiously isn't on their website. http://www3.pny.com/32GB-Metal-Attach-P3142C505.aspx

I assume you've tired all USB ports on your MacBook with no luck? I can't think of another reason of why it'd work on your dad's new iMac but not on your MBP.

I just returned it and got a 32 and its working fine, Apple and PNY couldn't help me at all, I think the capacity was just too high. strange. Thank you guys!

I'm using a 64GB no-name USB stick on an early 2011 17" MBP with no problem. |

go to system information > USB and see if shows up but isn't mounting for some reason. Could be a software issue.

It probably was a faulty USB drive.
You should got another replacement and tried it.
