Glad you finally discovered this. It was available in Leopard and Snow Leopard, then disappeared with 10.7, then returned with 10.7.4.to change the volume by 1/4 hold SHIFT AND OPTION key and the press volume up or down!

Dock Icon Seperator: To bunch together similar applications.
Open Terminal and copy/paste the following:
defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps-array-add'{tile-data={};tile-type="spacer-tile";}'
Need to refresh dock for the changes to apply. In Terminal type:
killall dock
Press 'Enter' or ' Return' and give it a moment.
Done!
Is there a keyboard shortcut to opening the Bluetooth preferences/connection options (specifically a way to open up the little Bluetooth icon on the top/menu bar)? I've had to replace batteries in the mouse before and it didn't automatically connect after turning it back on. Keyboard automatically connects. For this reason, we carry a wired mouse with us and the iMacs in the field...,'just in case'.
