can i achieve 4g lte or hspa using my vzw iphone 5 with att postpaid?

You can get a max of HSPA+, as the Verizon and AT&T iPhone 5 have different antenna configurations for LTE.

Correct. You will not get AT&T's LTE no matter what you do, but you can get AT&T's non-LTE "4G" service on your Verizon iPhone 5. The SIM slot is unlocked from the factory.
