I've had my iMac since December, and this started happening a few days ago. There's an "updates available" notification in the dock, but when I go into the Mac App Store and click "Updates" it searches for a few seconds, then reports no updates available. The notification stays in the dock and the App Store Updates button.

Today, the notification badge said 2 updates available. When I checked, the App Store listed just BBEdit as having an update available. I installed that update. And now the notification badges say there are still 2 updates available, but the App Store can't find any more updates!

I've only ever logged into the App Store with one AppleID, and I've double checked I'm using the same one. (My wife has a different ID, but I've never used that to login to the App Store.)

Any clues on what's happening here or how I can fix this?
